Trekventurer

About Us

Trekventurer was set-up by Madventurer, an award winning ethical adventure travel organisation, for those who want to use their time-out to trek some of the world's most beautiful mountains as well as contributing positively to the development of the people who live in the region.

Madventurer's love of the mountains and its support of rural communities has been an intrinsic part of its projects and adventures since it first began working in Africa in 1999. Trekventurer was set-up for those who share this vision and have an appetite for adventure.

Group Fun

Treks

Trek to the roof of Africa up the slopes of Mt. Kenya, or the world's highest freestanding mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Alternatively you can head out to the mighty Andes and combine a trek up to the beautiful Mt. Pisco with a more leisurely trek along the stunning Inca Trail to the ancient civilization of Machu Pichhu. Wherever you trek you will be making a difference not only to the size of your calf muscles, but also to the mountain communities that you pass.

Who

Trekventurer is open to those on a gap year, gap summer students, and career breakers. As long as you are physically fit and over 18 you are welcome to join the Trekventurer team. Each trek will have any number of people between six and twelve.

Fundraising

Traveling to Africa or South America is never going to be cheap. Taking time to fund raise for your trekking adventure is therefore important. Trekventurer has years of experience of this and organises events in the UK to help you on your way. Trekventurer also provides a comprehensive fundraising pack when you join to motivate and assist your fundraising quest.

Trekventurer sets out very clearly where your money is going (we actually take you to the community projects that you are supporting!) We think our treks are very reasonably priced and that the funds raised are used positively.

The Story So Far

So far Trekventurer has taken several groups to the summits of Mt. Pisco in Peru, Mt. Kenya, and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. We have also taken groups trekking along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. We have a summiting rate (the number of people who actually reach the summit) of 85%. This is down to good guides (who will always insist that you go 'slowly slowly') and good trekkers (who come prepared and look after themselves by keeping rehydrated).

Projects supported by Trekventurer have ranged from building schools and clinics to providing scholarships at the communities schools, and environmental programmes in the area.
