Peru - MT. Pisco

A land of extreme contrast with arid deserts and immense tropical forests bisected by the jagged spine of the Andes on its journey from Venezuela to the Southern tip of Chile.

Mount Pisco

Peru has become an extremely popular destination for tourists who flock to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, the highest lake in the world, Lake Titicaca, the Inca ruins of Arequipa and the tropical rainforest and cloud forests of the Amazon.

However, few tourists see the poverty the plagues this proud country. Desperate conditions in rural areas, force Peruís youth to travel to large cities to seek their fortune.

Machu Picchu

Madventurer projects are based high in the Andes, in the heights of the Cordillera Blanca. Based in the small villages of Menor de Llupa and Janco on the outskirts of Huaraz, an area popular for trekkers and travellers Madventurer is helping with projects that the villages desperately need, but canít afford.

You will be working on projects to help rebuild and renovate crumbling schools in the villages, as well as working on projects to help build much-needed medical centres for the local population. The local schools are also very keen to have help with basic English. The ability to speak just some English, can give access to better jobs and better opportunities, particularly in an area like Huaraz, where a large number of people are employed in the tourism industry mainly taking groups of Americans (Gringos) trekking in the breathtaking mountains of the Cordillera Blanca.
